The defibrillator is equipped with step-by-step audio and visual prompts that follow the American Heart Association’s Chain of Survival. Other features designed for the lay rescuer include:
- Real-Time CPR Help. The AED Plus provides real-time CPR feedback, in addition, it assesses both the rate and depth of your chest compressions. It also instructs if you need to push harder to ensure effective compression depth.
- Easy-to-Place Pads. The pads come pre-connected to a central unit. Simply align the red crosshairs at the center of the chest, and the AED Plus will automatically position both pads at their proper locations.
- Child-Friendly Design. If you need to use the ZOLL AED Plus on a child under 8 years old or 55 pounds, just attach the ZOLL Pedi Padz II (sold separately) and your device will automatically modify its coaching and treatment for pediatric patients.

The AED Plus conducts daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests to ensure constant readiness. The Zoll AED Plus promptly notifies you of any functionality concerns, including an impending expiration.
